10 Tips to Foster Belief in Yourself and Your Path

We all long to believe in ourselves and our life path. If we could arrange it, we’d feel confident 100 percent of the time.
The problem is we typically look for reassurance outside ourselves. This can be tricky when you find yourself in surprising circumstances and especially if you’re pioneering a new path. Here are a few tips to keep you thinking positive, working with the law of attraction, and calmly exuberant as you take on new challenges and go through change!
- Start Where You Are. When you can appreciate where you are and what it’s taken to get this far, you can be more accepting of life as a process that brings you to exactly the place you need to be.
- Celebrate Each Step Forward. Acknowledge your progress. Sometimes we are so humbled by our new paths that we can forget to celebrate our small yet significant achievements. Don’t compare now with the past. Celebrate that you really don’t know what new miracles will manifest from your new risks!
- Be Honest With Yourself. Ask yourself what you are ready for right now. What have your past actions prepared you to be ready to accept into your life without conflicting feelings? When you envision expanding your life in a particular area or developing a new skill, do you feel positive about it?
- Ask for What You Want. Ask the universe, God, nature, your friends, your loved ones. It’s always helpful to ask without being attached to a single outcome.
- Keep a Big-Picture Perspective and Stay Happily Curious. When we get lost in our narrow little world of challenges, disappointments, and frustrations, we miss all the opportunities the universe is presenting. Not a day goes by without offering a gift. As the law of attraction teaches us, a relaxed attitude helps you attract them and notice them.
- Think of Yourself as Lucky. Cognitive psychologists have done studies that show people who think of themselves as lucky are more open to seeing and receiving “lucky” opportunities.
- Keep Connecting to Others. The more people you know, the more opportunities you will be exposed to. Every person you pass during the day is worth a smile, a hello, an impromptu chat. Our connections often remind us of our true radiance and potential. Others generously give the gift of supportive words and actions that can surprise us. Accept compliments as true.
- Do One Thing Each Day That Reminds You of Your Radiance. That could be reflecting on the friendships you’ve nurtured and developed. Treat a pet with abundant love that warms your heart. Say a prayer that feels your heart with glowing light. Affirm what you have to offer the world by creating an intuitive dream board. Journal about your gratitude. Meditate to birth new insights from within and without.
- Create an Acceptance Ritual. Once a week/once a month honor your belief by doing nothing! Put it on your calendar. Make space to just release the need to do anything related to current goals. Don’t look at emails. Don’t talk business. Don’t rehash problems. Release any negativity you’re feeling. You might light a candle and say: “I trust in the universe to support me always.” Stay with that positive thought until it makes you smile.
- Don’t Make Happiness or Sadness Dependent on Your Circumstances. We all experience times when we think we should be happy but aren’t and, alternately, feel happy when our circumstances tell us we should be unnerved. If we can practice not letting our circumstances dictate how we feel, then we experience our power to create the reality we choose. How freeing is that!
