MELISSA WADSWORTH
Melissa
Wadsworth is a self-help author, inspirational speaker, dream board seminar leader and communications expert. According to Melissa, midlife so far has been abundant in changes, amazing joys and adventures. She is thrilled to be living her dream of teaching others the abundant rewards of living with empowered awareness of self, others and the world around us.
Her first book, SMALL TALK SAVVY, was released
by Adams Media June 2005. The self-help book draws upon her public relations
and communications expertise, offering strategies for comfortably interacting
with clients, co-workers, and other professionals in various business environments.
In addition, her amiable attitude about life as a single woman living in big
cities throughout her twenties and thirties informs her communications tips
and advice for getting unstuck conversationally and warmly and lightheartedly connecting with friends, dates, and
neighbors. Full of personal stories and examples from other professionals,
SMALL TALK SAVVY balances practical, real world advice with clear enthusiasm
for the inherent rewards of pursuing face-to-face connections. She also offers a business-specific small talk ebook for women, titled Small Talk Secrets for Women Who Network and will be launching a small talk for dating in February 2008.
Melissa is currently at work on a new book titled, What You Notice Matters!: A Unique Guide to Creating An Empowered Life Path. She offers seminars and workshops based on her personal growth philosophy "What You Notice Matters!" which encompasses using photography and other visuals as powerful personal development tools. Having led dream board/vision collage seminars for the last two years, she recently presented a dream board seminar to 1300 people at a Peak Potentials' Master Your Mind event in Los Angeles.
"It was such a thrill to be able to reach like-minded souls who actively strive to expand the range of possibility in their lives. This is such a fascinating time in history. It's so fulfilling to be creating dynamic programs and materials that help myself and others to move toward the joint creation of a world that is rich in awareness, joy, and abundance," says Wadsworth.
In 2007, Mellissa, along with three other professional women, formed Women Embracing Change. The group is dedicated to providing vital information and resources for women in midlife facing specific financial, health, career and personal growth issues and challenges. With its "Make Midlife the Start of Something Big" motto, the group puts on monthly breakfast talks and evening seminars in the Seattle area, donating proceeds to WWEE (Washington Women's Education and Employment).
Melissa honed her writing and communications skills during a long career
in public relations and marketing in Los Angeles,
Princeton, and Philadelphia. At 33 she was named a PR vice president, and two years later formed Wadsworth Communications.
Melissa worked with a diverse range of consumer, commercial and business-to-business clients, such as residential flooring manufacturer Mannington Mills, Paoli Furniture, a commercial furniture company, Grumbacher Artist Supplies, business-to-business companies like Buchanan Chocolates. Today, she occasionally puts her love of writing to work helping businesses with their copywriting needs including Web Site content. Clients include Seattle Image Consulting and Broadway Botox.
Self-decribed as creative to her core and a big dreamer, Melissa is a native Californian, raised in Dana Point and a UCLA alumni. Yeah Bruins! Melissa Wadsworth lives in Seattle with her husband pursuing her creative and outdoor passions including painting, photography and hiking. This past September she enthusiatically walked 60 miles for the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure.
