Be Scared, But Take the Risks That Help You Succeed!

Recently I’ve been reading a book titled The Spirituality of Success: Getting Rich with Integrity. The author, Vincent Roazzi, reminded me of several important things that are helpful to know on the path toward your dream career and dream life.
First, the ego doesn’t like change — even well-considered change. To the ego it all feels like you’ve chosen a very risky and life-threatening path (threatening your safety, financial security and comfort zone-ness).
Second, only conscious awareness will help you deal with the ego that keeps sending you SOS messages like:
- “Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure?
- “This feels scary you better go back!”
- “You aren’t smart enough for a risk like this!”
- “You idiot, don’t you know security is better than success!”
- “Who said you were so special that you get to have your dream life?”
And, my personal favorite:
Conscious awareness helps you to quiet the negative mental chatter that challenges your right to lead a life that feels full and rich and wonderful!
Yes, we want safety and security. But realize that a period of uneasiness due to stepping out of your comfort zone is actually good! It means that you are stretching your range of possibility rather than being held back by fear. It means that you are growing rather than stagnating. It means you are expanding toward your dream life potential by living wide-awake rather than on auto-pilot.
Engage in an activity like creating dream boards that help inspire you while quieting the ego. Take five minutes each day to be intentionally aware and see what you notice. Then be sure to congratulate yourself for taking risks that enrich your life.
Radiance and love.
