Mark your calendars for August 26th at 6pm. That’s when fearless women and the men who support them will gather for a first time event, featuring a prestigious award, music by Gypsy Soul, and a chance to participate in our fun Fearless Woman Day- Seattle video project. We’ve even asked Governor Chris Gregoire to attend and announce a Fearless Women Day proclamation!
Honoring Fearless Women
August 26th, 2010, is the day that women throughout both the US and Canada, will come together to pay tribute to the long history of fearless women that came before us and paved a trail of endless possibility. This day marks the the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment being ratified, giving women the right to vote. Across the country, women will be nominated and honored with the Susan B. Anthony Fearless Women Award, acknowledging their fearless contribution both to their community and the world.
Fearless Women Day was created by a fearless women herself, internationally acclaimed photographer and author, Mary Ann Halpin. In her extraordinary photography book, Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom, she brings together 40 female entrepreneurs from across the country to celebrate their courage and strength in having worked through their fears to achieve great personal and professional success.
Fearless Women Day is an opportunity to celebrate the trailblazer in us all.
And talk about your trail blazers… I’ve never had so much fun working with a group of hard working, get-it-done people. I’m constantly amazed at what the women on the Fearless Women Day – Seattle organizing committee are able to do. Obviously the spirit of this event in a real motivator.
Karna Sundby is the host for the Seattle event and is featured in Halpin’s book. Her story of overcoming a life tragedy and realizing her true path to helping others is inspiring.
Members of the organizing team include:Debbie Whitlock, radio personality and soon-to-be Internet reality show host,
Karen Rosenzweig, ex-chef and social networking wiz, style guru Kim Crumpler, networking powerhouse Zita Gustin, wine expert Deb Stadelman, and presentation trainer and speaker Vanna Novak, and more fantastic women than I can name her. The expertise and good will during planning and execution has been remarkable itself. It’s enough to convince me that women are already leading and organizing the world for the benefit of everyone.
