Finding peace and life balance: The art of sitting

My dream boards keep showing me a new message: SIT. Sit in rocking chairs. Be relaxed. Be at peace.
So tried this for a week. Each day I sat in my backyard in my rocking chair. I didn’t try to meditate. I didn’t try to still my mind. I calmly and with gentle curiosity took in the scenery in my backyard. I watched the squirrels. I noted the dart of a hummingbird. I petted my little dog. I breathed deeply. I gazed in appreciation without agenda or thought of purpose.
The result:
- A physical feeling of being grounded and peaceful. Nothing could ruffle my feathers. I saw how petty most emotional “disturbances” are; how we let little things upset us or tick us off.
- Emotional experience of richness. By sitting with my scenery, with the abundance around me, I bonded to it energetically in a way that was nourishing and enriching.
- A clear mind. I was able to think more clearly and positively. With fewer interruptions by my internal editor, the peace of my sitting stayed with me, lingered, throughout the day.
- Heightened intuition. I found that I could access my intuition at will. A question to myself resulted in an immediate answer. The airwaves of my mind, heart and soul were static free.
Try sitting yourself. Sitting naturally involves fewer expectations than more formal meditation practices. It’s so simple, yet so transformative.
