OMG, I just watched a video of a speech by brain scientist Jill Bolte Taylor about how her consciousness shifted when she had a massive stroke. This is such a powerful presentation. And her amazing message is worth hearing. I encourage you to go watch this 20 minute presentation to understand the enormity of our souls and our expansive connection to everything — where there is no separation between you and I.
Jill Bolte Taylor explains how there is only deep inner peace if we choose to act from the right hemisphere “we,” rather than the left hemisphere “I,” and how different our lives and the world would be if we recognized our unity rather than separateness.
Of late I’ve been so fascinated with how the brain works and how that is related to our experience of life and our experience as souls. In a few short minutes Jill Bolte Taylor explains the differences between the right and left hemispheres of our brain.
The right brain is all about”right here, right now.” The right hemisphere is all about our senses and as she says: “I am an energy being connected to the energy all around me through the consciousness of my right hemisphere. . . And right here, right now, we are brothers and sisters on this planet here to make the world a better place. And in this moment we are perfect, we are whole and we are beautiful.”

I too was moved by the video of Jill’s talk. I’d like to make two comments about things right-brain.
First, For anyone who reads (left-brain activity) Daniel Pink”s book, “A Whole New Mind” convincingly spells out what he quotes from Wired magazine, “Why right-brainers will rule the future.” He says the MFA is now replacing the MBA as the degree to get to rise in the corporate world. A great book!
Second, Yes we are all energetically interconnected. Separateness may be just a practical illusion. Awareness (awareness is right-brain function) of connection to another, starting in infancy, expands to awareness of connection to others, then to all others and then to the universe. For me this is spirituality at its core. Spirituality is awareness of connection, and that is what you are addressing in your post.

June 9th, 2008 at 4:43 pmI’m so glad you mentioned Daniel Pink’s book. I’ve had several people recommend it and so the tipping point has been reached … and I must get and read it. As someone who graduated in 1981 (when MBAs and working for IBM was the big deal) and didn’t know how my interests and strengths fit into the world, I’ve had to be very patient for right-brain appreciation to take root. It’s very gratifying to see it blossom like this for the benefit of all.
