Tim Russert’s wife’s intuition

on June 20, 2008 at 1:03 pm filed under Empowered Awareness

Las week when Tim Russert was leaving Italy, his wife Maureen Orth reported that she “had a feeling she would never see her husband again.” This intuitive hit prompted her to give him a hug before he boarded the plane.

I’ve said it before: What You Notice Matters!

Maureen Orth noticed what she was intuitively feeling and she acted on it by extending love. Hopefully, that will console her as she recall her last moments with her husband.

In this case, what Tim Russert’s wife noticed was energy that clued her into a future reality. It was unseen, on-the-verge-of-manifesting reality. So often we all get these kinds of intuitive messages and we discount them or our logical mind talks us out of believing or acting on what we are feeling.

Here a few tips for developing your intuition so that you don’t miss “receiving” or being tuned into hugely meaningful and significant information.

  1. Practice recognizing “new” thoughts or unusual feelings from the typical mental chatter. So often we think it’s more of the same. Journaling helps you to do this. So does one minute of quiet observing of your mind.
  2. Get into a habit of trusting your hunches rather than discounting your intuition. Just take a moment to ask yourself “what am I feeling?” Assume it’s important information that you can use in your life.
  3. Act on your intuition! Write down the thought. Respond to the prompting you’re getting with action that feels right. Try not questioning the thought or action you want to take. Just do it and see what happens.
  4. Be clear with others that you’re acting on your intuition. Sometimes we don’t act on our intution because we’re afraid others will think we are crazy. You can diffuse this feeling by just saying it out loud: “I have this feeling that…so let’s do this instead.” Or whatever comment is appropriate to the situation. Once others see that your intuition is accurate they’ll be amazed and see the value of trusting their own intuition.
  5. Train the brain to pay attention. Dream boards and journaling are great ways to open up your intuitive channel. Become a better receiver of all the information that is available to you.

I am practicing ONLY following my intuition. I think I can trace all my unhappiness (at least since being an adult) to times when I said NO! or NOT NOW! or I asked WHY? instead of just acting on the intuition. Can you imagine how awful Maureen Orth would have felt if she hadn’t acted on her intuition?
    Thanks for the reminder, Melissa!
