Tips for getting unblocked and unstuck

I recently asked some friends what they do to get unstuck, unblocked. Coming from their life experience wisdom and intuitive inclinations this is what they said:
- Do some energy healing exercises. Great idea. I took a day-long course with energy healing expert Donna Eden last year and she has some wonderful quick exercises to get your energy uncrossed and get it flowing. She also offers ways to protect your energy. This is important when you know you’re going to be around an energy vampire.
- Meditate/Pray. Blocks are mental. When you shift into spirit you naturally step into a much bigger area of potential. From stillness, inspiration can rise.
- Garden. Some people talk about the rich smell of the dirt, I always love the sweet smell of the flowers and herbs, other people mention the pleasures of physical exertion that is very grounding. Then there’s the simple pleasure of connecting to nature and creating visible outcomes. Just the thing for coming back into your true self.
- Walk. Maybe it’s all that fresh air. Maybe the slightly mesmerizing effect of moving at a steady pace you don’t have to think about too much. This can free up the mind to make connections and associations that inspire new solutions and ideas. Love that.
- Call a friend. Nothing like being heard and getting a new perspective to shift your mood. Of course, you don’t just want to dump on another person. Yet, when we keep it in the sharing realm and then ask about the other person, we shift the focus in a positive way. You will at least know you’re connected to others who care when you get back to the situation that felt blocked, and you might just get an insight from the friend that makes all the difference!
- Move outside to get a new perspective. I loved this one. I made a collage that reminds me of this. So simple and yet just the ticket for affirming that all it takes is a simple shift in perspective to move beyond feeling blocked.
- Observe something very closely. We’re always mirroring back our thoughts and situations on the world and others. Why not do it consciously and see what you can learn. You can look around you, inside or outside, and choose one thing to notice. Then notice everything about it. What does it make you think about? What does it remind you of? These kinds of observations and question take you into new realms of thought, which often bring about new insights.
- Take one action on something. When you’re not experiencing the results and outcomes you’d like, taking action is a great choice. Do one thing that you can on a project. Switch gears and tackle a completely unrelated project. Seeing the results somewhere else will be satisfying and remind you that you are able to accomplish what you positively focus on.
- Listen to uplifting music. The brain love uplifting music like classical music or fun jazz. This may be just the harmonizing influence you need to feel differently about your situation.
- Connect to nature. The nourishing, healing effects of nature are well known. Yet, we can forget to avail ourselves of this simple cure as often as we might. Find your patch of heaven outside and you remind yourself that life is good and that it will all work out.
- Exercise in any enjoyable way. Being healthy in body is always a good response to stressful situations and circumstances. When you’re feeling blocked, choose to move!
- Visualize peace. What puts you into a space of peace and acceptance? When you get there mentally and emotionally you can let go and let God.
